Esther Pearl Watson gave the Kansas City Art Institute’s Illustration department a Book Cover Assignment where we were to create a book cover based on randomly selected paint chips for the color palette and title.

After choosing the color Devonshire to be the title, I felt like it was ominous with a bit of elegance and made me think of a mystery. I sought to create an illustration of a run down house, using the light coral color for the poppies and title that is almost in script for a hint of elegance, yet also of time. To show that this house had a past that has lead to its current state.
